There's nothing gamebreaking past point 1.

Getting past 30 points requires a considerable effort, can we all please accept this? It's not something that can be done in a few weeks by just anyone. I'm fine with the system that we have: casual players get items unlocked for every single new thing they put into the HoM, encouraging them to keep going, and hardcore completionists will of course aim for 50/50 regardless of the tangible rewards (or lack thereof). GWAMM alone was enough to motivate many people to grind their eyeballs out; clearly, titles [i]do[i] matter to some people. If they don't for you, fantastic. Feel free to stop at 30.

Yes and I think this is exactly what the Arena.net designers had in mind.

I've always thought that titles were ridiculously useless the moment they were implemented. You can't even attempt to show it off a tiny bit without announcing it in a town and sounding like a total attention seeking *****.

The funny thing is that the whole anti-SC/anti-farming rants that had been going on for the past few years had been partly caused by the expectation that the HoM rewards would be "hard to get" and that XYZ skills are wrecking the value of those rewards...now its clear that SCers grinded to death for a line of text (that no one ever see/know) just to get MORE lines of text (that no one probably would see/now) in the next game.

Thankfully I never got into this title frenzy to begin with...and "abused" "overpowered" skills with my guilds to casually obtain all my titles. I can just imagine the looks on real hardcore grinders' faces...

From a large majority of the posts made here, I'm getting the feeling that many think the only way to collect titles is repeating the same bland tasks over and over again. This is not true for the most part. Most titles are not point/grind based, and those that are (e.g. sunspear, asura, etc.) can be maximized without too much additional effort if you just go for the non-repetitive tasks.

Titles are really just a way to guide player effort. After playing a game for a long time, some people will look for new ways to experience content. When it's no fun anymore or starts to feel like work, then it is the time to take a break or do something else.

I still believe that that 50/50 is still too easy to get even though many people believe otherwise. Heck I'm sure there are hundreds of people who could reach 60/60 if they added more points for additional armor, weapons, minis and pvp titles. Like it been address many times before, they fact you can get a pvp achievement without pvp'ing with zaishen is a joke.

I kind of like some titles, like cartographer and skill hunter. When those titles were first introduced I was already at 70% of them.
Some people like to do everything there is to do in a game and don't mind getting rewards (or not getting any), some feel they should be rewarded because they felt the need to do everything and some just don't care.

30/50 is time consuming and can be hard ; and if you achieved that, you might as well get 50/50. (destroyers weapons, here I come).

Hehe I was surprised that zaishen counted as a PvP achievement (but hey, not gonna complain, still a few points away for glad).

The game isn't coming out for another good year.
Casuals have plenty of time (if they're OCD nerds and want everything) to get to 50.

There is no reason whatsoever for A.Net not to add any items post-30.

I think we all got it. You do not care for titles. That's perfectly fine. There's no need to be smug about it.

Lot of people have funny idea about titles imo.

The title is primarily to give a sense of achievement to you not anyone else.
Bask in your own glory and enjoy any material rewards they give you.

Waking around showing off the title is very much secondary as it all depends on your audience.
Some will be ignorant of your achievement many will have a so what attitude and a very few will be impressed.

Titles give people something to do when they've been in the game for ages and run out of new quests to try, etc. There was no new content for months and months, so a player's only option was repeat things they've already done or decide to try for a title or two. Most people who did stay in the game doing titles (some of which take considerable time, some of which don't) knew that they'd be getting something cosmetic (i.e. NO advantage) in GW2 through the hall of monuments.
GW already has a ton of cosmetic items casual players can't obtain (I'm thinking uber rare minis they will never have the ectos for, uber rare skins like some canthan w/good stats they can never afford, hell most of the super casual players I know can't afford obby armor). So already you have a set of cosmetic items unavailable to casual players, built into GW. Also, most casual players won't pay real life money for the costume packs, another set of cosmetic armor(s) for the more hardcore player.
Therefore, I find the argument that the new, purely cosmetic, items given to people with hall of monument points needs to reach all casual players too a little weird. The game just isn't set up so that every casual player can have all items. The lack of grind comes in the fact that having that shiny item gives you absolutely no advantage in the game, so its just a personal choice to play enough to get it or not.
I think the Hall reveal brought a lot of people back, and without any further item rewards to "work" towards, I'm seriously worried even the people who were going for the longer titles (like lucky or chest runners, etc.) won't bother now, creating a larger vacuum of activity once everyone hits 30/50.
That said, I'm really happy with how they set up the point calculations for the Hall rewards, and the items they have for the 30 points mostly all seem neat.

Thats the thing I was wondering about - if the only benefit to playing GW is to get 30 points in the HoM whats the point of doing anything else in the game.

Atm I got 49/50 so just need a black widow spider so I am kinda putting off that for a while as once I get 50/50 points there is kinda gonna be zero incentive to do anything else in GW.

They should add some stuff for the people with around 30 points to aim for and give some cool skins/minipets on points 31+ to 50.

The game should be it's own reward...

I have 32 points and am happy.

They already have some stuff for people around 30 points to aim for, called TITLES.

I am someone with around 30 points and that is good enough incentive for me.

I play GW because I like the game. The HoM is a bonus not a reason to play. If it's the only reason you're playing, stop.

Interestingly the word "benefit" or "reward" don't appear anywhere on the page. "Amusement" does though, as does "Fun".

I assume we can only link a single GW account. I'm not sure if there is any incentive to develop my HoM on my 2nd account.
